About the Speakers

Robbie Short
Robbie grew up in the U.S., near Sacramento, California (home to the state capital). After studying history at Yale University, he lived for two years in Hong Kong, before moving to Singapore. His academic interests include U.S. immigration history, with a focus on 19th- and 20th-century migration within North America and between Asia and North America.

Petra Phang
Petra is Singaporean, but identifies as a third-culture individual, having spent more than two decades abroad. While overseas, she attended both American and British international schools before deciding to pursue her undergraduate studies in the United States. Subsequently, in an effort to be closer to Southeast Asia, she attended law school and was admitted to the legal profession in Australia.

Join Kehinde Fadipe, author of the widely-acclaimed novel, In Such Tremendous Heat, as she shares insights gleaned from her personal journey and stories from her unique career transitions from entertainment to education to publishing. In this session, dive into the fascinating world of the creative arts as Kehinde opens up about her experience training in London at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, performing on stage and on TV,  moving to Singapore to start a family and embark on a teaching career, and rediscovering her creativity through penning and publishing her debut novel.

About the Author

Kehinde Fadipe is an actress, writer, English and Drama teacher and mother. Her debut novel, In Such Tremendous Heat/The Sun Sets In Singapore, is contemporary fiction about three Nigerian women living in Singapore.Featured in The Today’s Show’s November 2023 Read With Jenna Book Club selection, she is currently adapting the content for TV with Universal Studios, writing her second novel and raising funding for her first feature film.
