It also allows you, the parent, to learn all about swimming and water safety along with your child.

Starfish Swim School -
Learn to swim program
3 years and above

The Learn-To-Swim Program teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression for pre-school age (3 years old) and above.

While age is a determinate in selecting the appropriate level for your child, the most important element for selection is their ability in the water. Swimmers must be independent enough to be in the water without a parent to participate in this program.

For new swimmers an assessment by one of our coaches is necessary before they can enter our program. That way we can make sure they will be grouped in a class with similar ability level.

There are six levels within our Learn-To-Swim Program, which are designed to give swimmers a positive learning experience.

A participant in Level Seahorse1and Turtle 2 primary focus is on water awareness. One a certain level of awareness is attained we can combine this with learning basic correct swimming drills. Repetition of drills and consistent attendance is the key in these levels

In Level Seal 3, Stingray 4 and Dolphin 5 participants build on these basic swimming skills to learn all four competitive strokes along with turns and dives. Teachers focus heavily on importance of perfecting stroke technique before attempting to swim longer distances. Water safety and rescue skills are also included in these programs.

By the end of Sharks Level 6, swimmers would have all the prerequisite skills and have developed the necessary fitness level for entrance into the Shooting Stars Swim Team Junior Training Program.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday AM ( L 1 & 2) and PM
Saturday AM

For optimum results we recommend two lessons a week ( subject to class availability)

Shooting Stars Swim Team
Coming together … Sharing together
Working together … Succeeding together

The Shooting Stars Swim Team seeks to create an environment, in which every participant has an opportunity to learn, grow, strive for their personal best, and rise above challenges. To help our swimmers achieve the results they desire in the water, we develop their techniques by including training drills for each stroke, positive analysis by coaches, and varied workouts based on a well-designed program that has an overall emphasis on team spirit.

We also incorporate Team activities such as dry-land training, goal setting, nutrition, visualisation and mental rehearsal, stroke focus weeks and time trials to offer our swimmers a well rounded competitive program. Team participates in swim meets in and outside the club as well as our monthly Super Stars Sprints. Please note all Swim Team members are expected to attend their lessons regardless of the weather. They will participate in dry land activities until the pool is re-opened.

Development Squad

Shooting Stars Development squad is bridging the gap between Sharks (Level 6) and Swim Team. Sessions will run 60min with one squad coach over 1-2 lanes. The focus for this squad is to increase endurance whilst maintaining correct technique both in stroke and turns. They will be expected to take part in the Shooting Stars program of events.

Competitive Squad

Swimmers in the swim team will be developing their skills for both training and competition.  An emphasis will be placed on the finer points of stroke technique, endurance, race strategy, sports nutrition and psychology. Swimmers in development squad are to perform particular skill criteria before moving to Shooting Stars Swim Team. The team is coached by one coach and the students are spread between 2-3 lanes for the 90 min session.  All swimmers will complete a similar warm up, drill and kick set and warm down. However the main set will be specific to the swimmers

For the optimal development of your swimmers skill and fitness level, a minimum of two sessions a week and most advantageous three sessions should be completed to make noticeable gains.
