Art Scene

Kumari Nahappan from Studio K is a prominent artist in Southeast Asia. Her practice encompasses inter-disciplinary genres, paintings, sculptures and installations. She has forged a reputation for effectively reconciling the language of “international contemporary art” with her own vocabulary and developing a visual identity that is decisively shaped by her cultural roots and beliefs.

“Spectrum” brings together a collection of paintings and sculptures created by Kumari over a period of three decades, beginning with the pictures from the garden to conceptual creations. The colors, forms and compositions have gradually evolved over this period, reflecting the growth inspired by ‘Life’. The nuances of celebrations and rituals form the collection, making a visual statement of space, time and energy as it is central to her practice.
