Constitution Updates


The Registry of Societies has approved the following changes to the Constitution of The American Club – Articles 20(f) and 20(l).  These were presented and approved at The Club’s Annual General Meeting on November 11, 2015.

(f) Distribution of Audited Accounts and Annual Report. Not less than forty (40) clear days before each Annual General Meeting, the General Committee shall cause a copy of the Annual Report and audited accounts of the Club for the fiscal year then ended to be made available in electronic form to each Member (other than Members on Absent Status). Hardcopies will be available for review within the Club.
(l) Resolutions for Consideration at a General Meeting. Any Eligible Member may propose or second resolutions for consideration at a General Meeting. All such resolutions must be in writing and must bear the signature and Club Membership Number of at least one (1) Eligible Member proposing and at least one (1) Eligible Member seconding the resolution and must be delivered to the Secretary (in care of the General Manager’s office) not less than thirty (30) clear days before the scheduled date of the General Meeting. The Secretary shall cause the text of each resolution which has been duly submitted to be included in the official notice of the General Meeting. No resolution which has not been included in the official notice shall be considered at the General Meeting except (i) procedural resolutions relating to the conduct of the General Meeting, such as resolutions to adjourn, and (ii) resolutions to amend the text of proposed resolutions which have been included in the official notice, provided such amendments are to clarify or correct the text of such proposed resolutions and do not materially alter the intent or meaning of the proposed resolution. All proposed resolutions must be in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order, and shall not conflict or contravene with the laws of Singapore, the Constitution, or the bylaws of the Club.

TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award 2016

The Club is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2016 TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award and  the special mention award for Outstanding Inclusive Workplace Culture. Presented by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), the awards recognize exemplary organizations that  have effectively implemented fair, responsible and progressive employment practices in Singapore.

The awards serve as a wonderful acknowledgement of The Club’s efforts and commitment in creating and  sustaining an inclusive workforce through the employment of HR strategies, policies and programs to enable team members to realize their full potentials.

GM Martin Rudden was presented the awards by Guest-of-Honor, Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say at the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award 2016 Presentation Ceremony on April 8.



Member Information Terminal

For the convenience and enhancement of user experience for all Members, The Club has recently launched an information terminal at the Concierge, availing Members of an array of informational services at the touch of a finger. Members may now check their statement of accounts (up to 1 year) and current month spending, Niche Group qualifying year-to-date spend, view future bookings and appointments at the Spa, Gym, The 2nd Floor, etc. (up to 3 months in advance), as well as prepaid package balances. Besides ease of use, Members can also look forward to more features being added to the terminal in the near future.

Business Excellence Service Class Certification


The American Club has been awarded the Business Excellence Service Class Certification from Spring Singapore. The Service Class (S-Class) status is awarded to organizations that have adopted and developed customer-centric approaches to service standards.  In particular, the attainment of this standard is a testament to The Club’s commitment to delivering excellent service and creating value for our Members and other stakeholders, thereby contributing to a vibrant community and the larger social dining industry. Our General Manager, Martin Rudden was on location at Resorts World Sentosa to receive the prestigious certification from Professor Cham Tao Soon, Chairman of the SQA Governing Council.
